Birds nesting in attic, eave, or roof areas?  We get rid of birds.

Many types of small birds, especially starlings, make a habit of nesting inside or through eave vent areas.  Often, these eave vent areas have very attractive, small, round, openings that closely resemble the types of areas that these birds search for in nature.

Bird beaks are easily strong enough to peck through the typically aging, brittle, and the light weight screen that lines the inside of these vents.

They move into attic and ceiling voids through odd sized gaps in your eaves and through gaps between roofing levels left open by builders.

The birds will remove, and/or, foul your insulation.  They can also permanently mar your exterior paint job, as their droppings are highly acidic.  They can also make irritating noises when you’re trying to sleep.

They often carry mites, lice, and other biting insects!  Bird nests can harbor insects that may filter down into your home and onto you or your pets.  (Including insects that will feed off of the food in your cupboards; insects that will feed of your clothing, furniture, and rugs; and insects that will feed off of you and your pets, such as lice.)

Starlings are territorial and they will return year after to year to the same areas looking for gaps to force their way through.

We install screens to get rid of birds in eave, attic, and roof areas.  Bird screens - if you will.

When fixing this problem it is important to be thorough and screen all potential access points.  If only the areas of current activity are screened, they will just move over to the next available opening and tear open the screen there.

It is much less expensive to screen all areas at once than to screen your eaves a few places at a time.  If we fix all possible areas at the same time, we can often give extended, ‘ten year plus’ warranties.

Be careful if you decide to tackle these pests yourself.  Using the wrong type of vent cover, or screening, or using some sort of blocking material can cause poor ventilation in your attic and lead to expensive roof repairs, premature roof replacement, and unhealthy mold infestations.

For these areas, we can often give a fairly close estimate on what it would cost to get rid of birds over the phone.

Bird control for pigeon infestations is often more involved and usually requires an onsite inspection.  We can sometimes bid smaller jobs from photographs if you can email us some.

We offer free bird control estimates for pigeons and most other birds.

Pigeons, even more than starlings, will return every year and they carry even more diseases and parasites, including the resurgent bed bug.

Small, under the eave areas can usually be screened, larger areas may need to be netted.

Bird net or netting systems can be installed over large areas such as parking garages and food courts to keep birds from roosting or nesting on pipes, ledges, or lighting.

Sometimes the use of trip wires or non-lethal bird control spikes is needed.  Bird spikes do not work really well in areas that are highly sheltered.  We install bird spikes to get rid of birds in areas of low to moderate bird pressure.  There are several types of bird spikes available depending on your budget and bird pressure.

Sometimes, the best bird control is achieved when you trap out large populations of pigeons prior to installing deterrents like screen, netting, spikes, or trip wires.

Commercial applications with materials such as Bird Slide blend very well with existing structural elements, involve little or no upkeep, and are practically undetectable after installation and work very well to get rid of birds.

Shock track low profile bird deterrent

One bird control option is Shock Track.  Shock Track is low profile, delivers a very mild shock, and quickly trains pigeons and other birds not to land, walk, or roost in specific areas.  It runs on solar powered batteries.  It works great when you don't want people to know you are getting rid of birds.

Bird slide product

Bird Slide can be sized to fit lots of applications and can be painted or even manufactured to match most exterior finishes.  It prevents pigeons from nesting in lots of different kinds of areas and it works on swallows and other birds as well.

pileated

The Pileated Woodpecker, a large bird, as big as a crow, may be active all year long.  Very damaging. One of many woodpeckers seen in our area.

The Flicker, another large bird that damages siding and eaves.

Woodpeckers and flickers.

Woodpeckers and flickers can cause extensive and expensive damage to any wooden structure.

While we have many years experience in getting rid of birds that damage homes,  it is important to understand that they are federally protected and that no single bird control solution works every time.  Some solutions such as plastic owls from your local garden center don’t work at all.

We typically devise custom bird control solutions depending on your level of activity.

All solutions involve installing objects that move with the wind making the birds restless and nervous and at least a small amount noise.

Woodpecker are constantly harassed by smaller birds who wants the nests they worked so hard to build and by predatory birds that view them as prey.

Scare Eye with Mylar tape

One effective deterrent with both movement and minimal but effective noise.
