How do I get rid of bees?

  Bee exclusion
99.9% of people who call us to get rid of bees, do not have bees - they have Yellow Jackets. Yellow Jackets are a very small compact wasp that are easily and commonly mistaken for bees.  Check out Rid of Wasps.

It is almost impossible to caulk and close every single gap small enough for bees and wasps to get in through.

Fortunately, most homes only have a nest that needs professional help every few years.

However, if you have allergies, you should know that many types of roofing systems invite wasps and bee infestations:  Tile, shake, and shingle roofs, being the worst.

Getting rid of bees

If you are unsure if you have bees or wasps, we would be happy to talk to you about your problem and help you figure out if you have bees or wasps - even if it means giving you a free on site inspection.  All we ask, is that if you have wasps, that you allow us to take care of them for you.

Getting rid of bees  - playing it safe.

Some people, especially people who are allergic to bees may want us to get rid of bees, if in fact they have bees, because sometimes it takes too long to get a bee keeper to get out to a home to collect bees.

Understand that we get a great many calls where one or the other homeowner or occupant has been hospitalized due to multiple bee or wasp stings.

Getting rid of bees - exposed nests.

If you have an exposed paper nest - you have some sort of wasp - yellow jackets or paper wasps.  In the event of a paper nest, you can spray it with any spray labeled for wasp or hornet control and it will get rid of bees. However, almost everything you buy at your local hardware store is highly repellent and makes bees and wasps really mad.  If you can wait until after nightfall, and if you are really careful to spray them in the dark - without shining a flashlight or other light source on the nest - you have a chance.   Just remember, the majority of calls we get are when the homeowner has already been stung multiple times.

Getting rid of bees - hidden nests.

If you have bees, or possibly wasps, coming in and out if your roof, your eaves, a hole in the siding, or a vent - don't even try to get rid of bees yourself.  Bees and wasps have mouth parts that are perfectly adapted to chewing through sheet rock - which is really a fairly soft material.  Over the counter sprays are highly repellent.  That is - the wasps or bees know that it is death to crawl across them.  Instead, since they live a fairly long time, they will often just decide to create a new entry way - away from where you sprayed.  We get dozens of calls every year for wasps and bees that explode through sheet rock down from the roof area or out through the walls into living areas.
